Howard “Bud” Connell
Memorial Leadership Scholarship
Established in March, 1994 through the
Kearney Catholic High School Foundation
Purpose: To perpetuate the spirit of Howard “Bud” Connell through the establishment of a memorial scholarship that provides everlasting support to deserving senior-to-be students at Kearney Catholic High School .
Scholarship Criteria: The Howard “Bud” Connell Memorial Leadership Scholarship is designed to recognize a student that most closely resembles the character traits of Bud Connell- hard work, dedication, perseverance, honesty, integrity, and strong family values.
The applicant must have been a student at Kearney Catholic High School for the last three consecutive years and maintained a 2.5 (C+) average in his/her academic work.
The applicant must have proven leadership abilities exhibited on extra curricular and community activities.
Special consideration will be given to students who hold a part time job while completing their high school education.
Selection Process: The committee will examine the merits of eligible students based on the above criteria. The recommendations of KCHS faculty and administration will weight heavily in the decision making process.
A formal interview of two or more potential recipients may be used to determine the recipient.
