The Matt Dakan Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To perpetuate the memory of Matt Dakan and his interest and love in creative writing by awarding one scholarship each year to a Kearney Catholic High School sophomore based on creative writing criteria.

Awarding of the Matt Dakan Memorial Scholarship

      1. One scholarship shall be awarded each year to a sophomore-to-be attending Kearney Catholic High School .

      2. Only present freshmen (9th grade) students attending Kearney Catholic high School are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

1. Scholarship money awarded to the recipients will be used to pay for tuition at Kearney Catholic High School only.
2. Scholarship applications must include at least one example of creative writing created entirely by the applicant.   Such creative writing may be fiction, non-fiction, prose or other acceptable forms of creative writing.   In judging the creative works of applicants the content of the work will be considered paramount with the physical appearance of the work, spelling, grammar, etc. considered secondary in judging.
