Scholarships (Graduating Seniors)
All Applications must be submitted by April 15th, 2011.
In addition to completing the following applications, a paragraph on the student's future career plans and
at least one letter of recommendation should be submitted.
Theresa Loschen Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will award $250 to a senior pursuing a business related or teacher education degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney or the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Criteria will include need, participation, and scholarship.

Sorensen Family Scholarship
This scholarship will award $3,000 to a senior planning to attend a four-year college or university. Selection will be made considering significant academic progress from their freshman year to their senior year. Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of their senior year and have demonstrated a broad range of extracurricular involvement. Students with a legitimate financial need will be given priority. This application should also include a one page hand written summary detailing the student’s desire to attend a college or university and how Kearney Catholic High School has prepared them for post secondary education. In addition, one letter or recommendation from a person not associated with the school is also required. A copy of the students transcripts, class rank, and GPA from their freshman year to the current year should be included.

Star Merit Scholarship
This scholarship will award $1,000 to a graduating senior planning to attend a four year, out-of-state, private college or university. The purpose of this scholarship is to challenge KCHS graduating seniors in their educational perspective beyond the state of Nebraska.

Steve Calleroz Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Kearney Catholic Activities Association to memorialize the life of Steve Calleroz by recognizing outstanding Kearney Catholic students with a $500 scholarship to further their education at a four year college or university. Special consideration will be given to students who participated in activities surrounding the curriculum at Kearney Catholic High School.

Jessica Clyne Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will award $500 to a senior planning to enroll in a Nebraska Community College and to an individual who has been actively involved in the music program at KCHS. Special consideration will be given to students with financial need. Criteria includes overall GPA, class rank, college entrance exam scores, moral character, leadership, school involvement, and community service.

Jan Gorecki Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will award $200 to a senior planning to enroll in a four year college or university. First priority will be given to a student pursuing a career in Spanish and who is involved with activities surrounding the Spanish language curriculum at KCHS. Criteria includes overall GPA, class rank, college entrance exam scores, moral character, leadership, school involvement, and community service.

Anita Nickman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will award $500 to a senior planning to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and cannot receive more than 3 other scholarships to be
eligible.
Bede F. and E. Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 and will be awarded to a senior who plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney and pursue a business related degree with special consideration given to students who wish to pursue a career in retail trade management. Criteria will include financial need, commitment to a business related field, academic achievement and moral character.

Sister Anne Catherine Tuition Scholarship
This scholarship will be in the amount of $500 and awarded annually to a Kearney Catholic High School 6th 7th, or 8th grade student who excels in the math and science programs.

Kelly Joel Turner Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be in the amount of $250 and awarded annually to a Kearney Catholic High School student. The criteria considered will be academic achievement, leadership, extra curricular involvement, and financial need. Please attach a report card for consideration and review. The recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of a B or 3.0 to qualify for this scholarship. A D in any class will disqualify an applicant Special consideration will be given to those students with a special financial need. If you wish to have your financial need considered, please attach a short explanation of your financial situation and why this scholarship would be especially beneficial to you.

Howard “Bud” Connell Memorial Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship will be in the amount of $400 and awarded to a senior-to-be. It will be awarded to a student who demonstrates hard work, dedication, perseverance, honesty, integrity, and strong family values. The
applicant must have attended KCHS for the past 3 consecutive years and maintained a 2.5 GPA. In addition,
the applicant must have exhibited leadership qualites through extra curricular and community activities.
Special consideration will be given to those who have held a part-time job while completing their high school
education.

Good Samaritan Hospital Scholarship
This scholarship will provide tuition assistance to incoming or currently enrolled needy, students at Kearney Catholic High School. The criteria are that the student must be an incoming or currently enrolled student at KCHS and the recipient must be willing to spend time at the hospital in order to become oriented to the health field. The scholarship is based on need, leadership, extracurricular involvement and academic potential including plans to take a foreign language during their high school years.

This scholarship will be in the amount of $250 and an incoming or currently enrolled Hispanic student at
KCHS. In addition, the applicant must be Catholic. The awarding of the scholarship is based on need,
academic potential, and grade point average (if previously enrolled at KCHS).

Two scholarships, each in the amount of $500 will be awarded to incoming or currently enrolled KCHS students and are based on financial need.
Julie A. Sorensen Scholarship
The Julie A. Sorensen Scholarship was established in January 2010 to recognize, memorialize and honor the amazing life of Julie A. Sorensen by annually providing a $500 tuition assistance to a prospective Kearney Catholic High School 6th grader to enable them to attend Kearney Catholic based on desire and financial need.
The Knights of Columbus Scholarship
This scholarship will provide tuition assitance to an incoming or currently enrolled KCHS student based on financial need.
Jessica Clyne Scholarship
This scholarship will be in the amount of $200 and will provide tuition assistance to incoming 6th grade KCHS students based on financial need.
The Jerry Liveringhouse Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in the amount of $500 and will be awarded to an incoming or currently enrolled KCHS student based on financial need.
Prellwitz Family Scholarship
Three $500 scholarships will be awarded to incoming 6th grade KCHS students with financial need. The applicant must be Catholic at the time of application.
Younes Family Scholarship
Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to incoming 6th grade students who need financial assisstance to enroll in the school. The awarding of the scholarships are based on need.
